NPSNEO: Native Orchids of Ohio

Ohio has a diverse and rich distribution of native orchids. Orchids occur in a variety of habitats. Our bloom season extends from the first week in May until late October, depending upon how the weather holds out late in the fall. One species has been seen blooming as late as Halloween. Tom Sampliner, photographer, botanist, and former president of the Native Plant Society of Northeastern Ohio, will take you through the seasons and show our native species, some companion bloomers and what the habitats are like.
