Our guest speaker this year will be Dr. Randy Mitchell.

He is a Professor of Biology at the University of Akron. Dr. Mitchell grew up in central California farming country, and became interested in nature at an early age, learning about entomology and beekeeping in 4H. He studied at the University of California Davis (BS) and UC Riverside (MS, PhD). He continued studies and research in New Mexico, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Australia and came to the University of Akron in the mid 90’s. Dr. Mitchell’s research interests include pollination, bees, and wetland restoration.

Dr. Mitchell will be speaking to us about Bumblebees of Ohio and the Great Lakes: The Role of Native Plants.
