NPSNEO: North Kingsville Sand Barrens, Ashtabula County

Jim Bissell, Cleveland Museum of Natural History retired Curator of Botany Emeritus, leads this trip to see blooming lupines, Ohio-endangered Bicknell's geranium, and the largest striped maple in Ohio, which is close to the dimensions of the national champion in Maine. The 174-acre property supports three endangered plants and several rare invertebrates.
The Native Plant Society was honored to award Jim our Gentian Award in 2021.
